My prior work has focused on different aspects of obstetrics care, including audit/feedback techniques to enhance guideline-based care, postpartum evaluation and bone metabolism, maternal morbidity and near-miss, prematurity and translational science of pre-eclampsia. I currently hold a tenured faculty position within the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil, and I am responsible for the hospital´s specialized prenatal care unit on hypertensive disorders. My ongoing research studies include the participation of multicentre studies on prematurity (within the Brazilian Network of Studies on Reproductive and Perinatal Health), hemoglobinopathies and pregnancy and preeclampsia. For my post-doctoral training at Washington University, Saint Louis, Missouri, I am working on the biological activities of Antigen Presenting Cells in placentas from normal and preeclamptic pregnancies.
